Spiders, spooky masks, bats flying around and scary-faced pumpkins.. Halloween is almost here again!

It is not a particular fete that I enjoy that much as I don’t like terror stuff ( I dont enjoy horror movies, I get terrorized!), but well, once in a while, with the appropriate mood, it can be fun .. and elegant. So please don’t dress like a pumpkin!!

Morticia was very chic- Gothic (gochic!) and this year we could try to get her looks with a good dose of make up and some nice pieces.. I love this dress of Valentino although I know it is not for every pocket (not mine at least! This beauty costs almost 35.000 Dhs-around 7.000 Euros). It has black lace and leather in perfect harmony. I love the simplicity and elegance of Valentino.  In Sauce you have a Rhea Acosta black long dress that is very similar to the Valentino and costs 7.000 Dhs (not Euros!).

valentino front

There are other options of black dress that are much cheaper and even though not being the same silhouette still will give the gochic effect. Like these ones from Zara. To add the spooky festive part just go to Satwa and buy some pieces of tutu fabric ( hard one) and with a belt organize yourself a pretty, full of volume and irregular layer of extra tutu skirt around your waistline and in your back. hallowen zara dress

Halloween is all about accessories. So you could pair the dress with not only the tutu belt (leave some extra long tail for cooler effect) but also you will need a pair of shoes or boots. I love boots, although Dubai weather doesn’t allow for much real use- unless you work with me and have a cryogenic lab as office. Honestly! My office is soooo cold!-. Check my picks. One is like Mary Poppins style – I love it! It is super-cali-whatevaaaaword! and the other follows the theme of elegant black lace. halloween shoes

There are some hand or arm candy that depending how Gothic you want to go, it could work, like this roman cuffs in leather or this more delicate lace finger-wrist piece. halloween hand

The face is critical in any costume so make up is required but also if you want to keep it more simple you could use a mask. Check this one I found on the internet… very much 50 Shades of Grey Style eh!. By the way the kind of tutu fabric you can use for the layers is similar to this one or with less spacing.

I also wanted to show you another creative way of using this fabric. Koton has it on this year collection and I find it really cool – and easy to do it at home, if you don’t have a Koton store close by. Winter warm knitted hat with a  touch of glam.

www.whatijustlove.comNow we need to decide where to go to show our magnificent and gochic look. I found two parties in Dubai that look like the best of the best. One is at the Cavalli Club at the Fairmont Hotel in Sheikh Zayed. Cavalli will celebrate the Day of the Dead on the 31st of October between 21:00 and 3:00. It cost 300 Dhs but includes open bar from 21:00 to 00:00.They will have some special Halloween cocktails and shots Cavalli style! On the page where you can book they have this very spooky video that can give you one idea for make up.

The other Halloween party is in Studio F in Emirates Towers. This one is costume only and couples only ( sorry guys!). The price is 150 Dhs and it will be rocking to DJ Parham Loco and Armin Van Bango from 22.30 to 03.00.

Well, now it is all said. It is time to get ready and rock the Halloween mood.

By the way, this is a pic of a cat woman costume I wore- yes, it is me!- in one of the best Halloween parties I can remember, in my beloved Jamaica. Great times!!

Enjoy, be happy and scare your neighbors, before they scare you!

Hello my dears,

Last week I went shopping and I found that Kurt Geiger has 50% discount on many models until the 31st of October. I like their shoes very much and found some beauties for my ravioli feet at very good price. 😉

They have some really beautiful shoes.Too bad that my feet are so small and not of all the discounted models they had my size. At the end the winner is:

la foto 2

I took them already to the office and they looked great with a pencil skirt but the color and those studs make it lady like and rock and roll at the same time, so I am going to wear them with jeans and with my black cigarette pants. They are so versatile that, truth to be told, I can mix them with most of my wardrobe.

My recommendation is to go and check what they have in store and take profit of the discount- 50% is not bad at all!!. I went to the shop in Dubai Mall- in front of the Level Shoe District, but they have all over UAE. And this is the link if you like to buy online. The discount is also available there.

I fell in love and so can you!

www.whatijustlove.comHi dears,

I just saw this great initiative and had to share it with you. Every month of October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. Since 1997 Burjuman has a Programme called Safe and Sound to raise awareness about this particular cancer.

Most of the breast cancers if they are detected in the early stages can be cured, so don’t be scared.. go to your doctor, get checked, get peace of mind. I know it is a bit uncomfortable sometimes, but it is way worthy.

During this entire month, Safe and Sound have a lot of activities, but the pink walkathon is the one I am not going to miss. The coming 1st of November, Friday, starting 8.30 at Zabeel Park, Area A, Gate 1 you will find me ready to mambo together with many other people, not only women. Cancer may affect all of us one way or another.

The fee to join is of only 50 dirhams, 30 for children between 8-12 and totally free for children of less than 8 years old. You can pre register at the Burjuman Information counters and if you don’t have the time, on the same day, directly at the park,  between 7 and 8.30. So tell your friends, bring your family along, tell your neighbor, your colleagues, your yoga teacher..

By the way, if you are not fit, no worries, it is only 2 kilometers and it is a walk, no need to run. After the walk, there will be a live band, dancers, kids games, face painting, pink bazaar and food stalls.. It will be a fun Friday morning!

This is super worthy, so get pink, learn how to self examine yourself, tell a friend, make sure everybody knows that early detection saves lives. My aunty is a survivor and I am not missing my check ups thanks to her advice many years ago. By the way, you have a free check up thanks to the programme, so no excuses.. get your appointment.

This time I am going to ask you to like the Facebook page not only of the blog, but also of this great initiative.

Safe and SoundWhat I Just Love

Pink & Luv,

See you all there,

Well, well, here we are again, getting ready for tomorrow’s event. Yey! Tomorrow is the first day of Fashion Forward – Season 2 and it promises great fashion shows and tons of creativity to enjoy.

First, thanks to the Brag Team once again for the humongous amount of work and organization behind the show.  I must say, I am glad it is during Eid holidays -even if partially- it allows to rest and to enjoy great fashion. It couldn’t be better.

Second, this first day is going to be awesome as we have some amazing designers and talks. Don’t forget your camera and extra batteries.

At 15:00 we will have the opening of the event at The Garden Party. If you didn’t register online on time or if you have to pick up the invites at the event, it is good to arrive a bit earlier and get it done.

16:00- Azza Fahmy Jewelry will be in Hall 4 with a very interesting talk about  how to Penetrate The Global Market and How To Stay Relevant. Definitely a must-go talk for any new or existing brand.

17:00 –The Starch Foundation  in Hall 2. It is a non-profit organization co-founded by the Lebanese designer Rabih Kayrouz to promote and support new Lebanese designers in the early beginnings. Watch out for these very talented designers, they have a lot to say.

19:00- Glam Hour. Rest, have some tea, grab a snack, go say hi to friends.. now is the time. Only half an hour though.

19:30- Parsons in Hall 4 with the talk “Design Thinking. Creating Beautiful Solutions” by Simon Collins, Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design. By the way, this school has online programs and Donna Karan studied there, so the level must be very high. Sounds good, eh!..

20:30- Ezra in Hall 1. This show is a must-see, creativity at its best. Last edition I enjoyed every single dress and believe me, I would have bought all of them if I just had the budget and occasions to wear his amazing dresses. They are feminine, elegant, extravagant, beautiful and dramatic. I am sure you feel like direct from a Fairy tale. This red one is from last seasons collection.

And this one is from this season, so we will see it in the runway.

21:30- The Emperor 1688  in Hall 2. The Golkar’s must be the most creative family in Dubai. Three brothers and the mum, all fashion creators, working and putting together an amazing brand of menswear. Luxury, elegant lines and only top of the top quality. I am definitely going, last year I saw one of the brothers in a talk and what he said was super interesting. My hubby may end up with a present, who knows?

22:00- After Party at Fort Island. With an amazing atmosphere and if you are tired and don’t want to wait forever for the taxis or valet parking to come, just relax, have a drink and socialize.

If you notice, all the names of the designers have a link. I have attached the links to all the designers websites so you can dig on their collections and share with your friends.

Well dolls, I hope I see you tomorrow, ready to enjoy and get surprised by the creativity of the talented middle eastern designers. If you see me around, don’t be shy and say hi. And don’t forget to follow the blog in any of the formats.

The Spanish National Day it is the coming 12th of October. We celebrate the discovery of the Americas by the absent-minded Columbus which insisted in going the other way around to India. Well, they say that most of the discoveries are done by chance. This is one of the most obvious ones!

The Spanish Embassy organised a very nice event at the Abu Dhabi Country Club instead of the 12th on the 7th. They didn’t offer serrano ham but we had paella, spanish omelette and croquetas.. Yummy!!!.. It was great to see some friends and some of my very stylish compatriots.

These are some pics.

The small paella- pronounced Pae i a, not paela. My delicious national dish. Dont ask me how to cook it, I have no clue!

Me and hubby! The other Royal Family!!  hehehe.. Who is Kate? William? No idea.

At the party there were so many beautifully dressed ladies that at the end I couldn’t help but to do some street style pics, well.. ok Embassy Style Pics this time.  I love the pink and the shapes that they choose to combine each of the outfits. The Flamenco skirt in fuchsia is just so gorgeous.

I hope you like what you see and that it inspires you to dress pink, attend parties at embassies, follow, love and like the blog in any of the social media accounts and be happy forever and ever.

This song has come to my head like non stop from the last few days and it is because for me it is time to move.. I have been living in my cute little apartment in Marina for almost 2 years and now with all my hobbies (expensive and expansive hobbies) we need more space. Being 100% honest, I need more space. Hubby is amazing and doesn’t complain at all in the little corner.

My favorite corner in my house.

We have been looking around and my heart is divided between the Springs- cute little villas with garden (BBQs!) a very family like atmosphere, the only cons is that there is not so much interior space and you need a car to come and go- and Marina – with the views and the fact of having everything right under your feet, all the restaurants, the beach, the Marina, the shops and saloons. The apartments we have seen are spacious, but they have a little terrace meaning No BBQs 🙁 , no community feel like in villas, and traffic. Both options have swimming pool and assigned parking lot.

We have to make a decision in the next days and I am not sure what to do. Prices are kind of the same and it is more a matter of what lifestyle you want to live the next year.

I must tell you that to rent in Dubai is very stressful. There are plenty of realtors and agents but  there is such a demand- even with the super high prices- that they pretty much don’t care about anything but their commission. They will tell you things like.. you need to tell me now or else it will be gone.. and the market in here is so fast paced, it probably will. One of the apartments we saw yesterday, we liked and decided to call the agent to inform as we were coming out of it. We wanted to see if there would be room for negotiation and well, it was gone already. They started to show it just that same day. Amazing!

Also another thing that it is very Dubai is the “1 check “.. basically means that you pay in advance for the entire year..Yep! I am not kidding. I remember those sweet days on my 20’s when in London you could pay every week. That may be too much, but this is absolutely too little. All the risk to be bear solely  by the tenant.

Last year there was a big scam and many people got kick out of the rented apartments and lost their money (1 year rent @ Dubai prices..that must hurt!). So we have to be very alert and request all sort of documents to make sure the owner is the one owning the property for real and the contract is for the same property you are moving in. In case of questions, ask the RERA people. They are the ones providing certification to the agents and controlling the real state in UAE. RERA stands for Real Estate Regulatory Agency.

Well, enough said.. I will check with my pillow about what decision to make. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment. It might be helpful to break the deadlock!!

If you want to follow the blog through social media you are very invited and actually it will make me very happy!. These are the links.

Free Hold XOXO and lots of luv without commissions or taxes,

Yesterday, it was fun.. We hold our first Meet up for the Dubai Fashion & Lifestyle Bloggers Community, a new Meet up Shaheen and me have been putting together for the last few weeks. Could you believe there was not such a community, association or group for bloggers with fashion or lifestyle as main topic in Dubai?..(Hellooo, I insist .. in Dubai!).

I guess Dubai itself it is a bit like that, so fast paced, everybody minding their own business. A bloggers set of mind requires some time and space to research, write, go to events, take pics, and work on the unique content we always want to offer,.. and it feels a bit lonely sometimes. When we met we both felt the gap right there and eventually she started the meet up and I volunteer to assist her.

The Meet up took place at the Sisters Beauty Lounge in The Village Mall (Jumeirah area). The saloon has a very nice atmosphere and has a separate area for nails (manis and pedis), another for hair treatments, another section for facials, waxing and massage and even a very cute Kerastase bar with a russian lady that knows a whole lot about all the Kerastase products and what goes well to what type of hair. I am going to follow her advise on a few tips. Since I arrived to Dubai my hair is in serious misshape and I tried so many things with not always the expected results, I am still looking for the right product, the right hairdresser, the right treatment..

All paying attention to the explanation of the hair expert @ Sisters saloon.

The branch manager of Sisters showed us their premises, provided all the attendees with drinks and small tapas and offered us a bag with goodies and samples to test and a free mani or pedi (gorgeous coral toes- Thanks Michelle!). It was 10 of us so we got them busy for a while. The bloggers sisterhood at the Sisters saloon.

I am so glad to be part of this Meet up. The attendees were all amazing and had lots of ideas to improve and make the group really thrive. Everything is about helping each other, learning, developing relationships with one another, with the press, with the brands, growing personally and “blogger-ssionally”. (if where you missing my leliquistani.. there you go!). ;). I loved the energy and the camaraderie between all of us.

Let me introduce you some of the blogs of my fellow DF&L Bloggers. If you have a minute check them out. We are all in a path to self improvement and we love to have your feedback, so please comment, engage, like, share..

Meet the organizers. Say Cheese!

Ok, by now, you all know I am pretty crazy about bags (and shoes, shhh…) and that  I have been craving and waiting for this course to start because it is really, really the course I wanted and needed to take.

My dream ( like Martin Luther King I have a dream too, .. well, actually, lots of them …) is to one day become a successful handbag designer and sell my bags everywhere in the world… and see the cool people holding my bags as something precious and something that they really enjoy and care about… and to have Brianboy talking about them and showing them on his insta account ( very commendable and fun account by the way!).. and live happy using my creativity and skills and being the owner of my time, which to me is the single most precious thing we all have (this one I know it is tough.. but well, it is my dream! So don’t spoil it!).

Let me tell you about the course a bit. It is from the London College of Fashion (LCF for friends and family) and in Dubai it lasts 4 days from 9.30 to 16.00 more or less, although we were all enjoying it so much we were staying until the next course was literally kicking us out of the classroom.

The teacher –Ann Saunders– was, is and will always be awesome, amazing, very inspiring and super expert on the matter. She was always kind and smile at all of our questions and she helped us with whatever barrier we had, being language, understanding or lack of skill to glue the prototypes.. did I say prototypes? Yaaaay!.. we did each of us a prototype of our design in cardboard. I will show mine later.

We also worked on trends by creating our own trend boards and developed mood boards in the search for inspiration. We studied the materials and learn of shapes and a bit about hardware, construction and making.. in two words.. es – pectacular!.. The course is pricey and I was not sure initially about how much could you learn in 4 days but now I can say it was worthy every penny. By the way, if you are a customer of S*uce, you might get a very special discount, so be ready and watch out if you like any of the coming courses.

The best of this kind of courses is the like minded people you find there, the other students.. all of them full of talent and determination to achieve their dreams and enjoy along the way. I am so happy to have met them, some are already designers and make a living out of it, some are almost there, some are dreamers getting ready and educated such as myself.

I wanted to join another course- How to start your own fashion label with Toby Meadows- but the investment required some extra breathing – and also to request extra days of holidays from work- so as in February there is another edition, I will just wait for that one. Toby Meadows is pretty amazing too. I met him briefly on last year Fashion Forward and now I am reading his book. I still have not finished but so far it is really good.

By the way, did you already register for the next Fashion Forward? Please don’t forget to do so. In this link you can register eazywizy. We all need to support local talent and make sure Dubai has its own Fashion event. The team at Brag do a great job every time and need our support. Another of my dreams is to show my bags at Fashion Forward cute little corner shop and see them swinging together with the clothes in the runway. .. maybe next time!!

Well, my dears, if you have any questions about the course or about anything else really… drop a comment or let me know by private email ( on the Contact tab you have all the info). Also you have all the social media of the blog at your fingertips.
